The Menu - Monthly Favourites - August 2013

August 2013 Favourites

Life in August was insanely busy both at work and outside. I wanted to do my monthly favourites post sooner (am I the last one to do this post in the entire blogging world?) But I have some beauties to share with you so I thank you for bearing with me.

I'm in love with a Revlon gloss in the shade Firecracker ($6.49). I bought it in July and I'm already half way through the tube! I think this gloss has been discontinued or renamed, if you know what it's called now, can you let me know, I will go out and buy a few back ups :) It's a super moisturising, pigmented, affordable and a gorgeous colour.

I am also loving or rather re-loving an old favourite - the Maybelline's Colour Sensational Lip Gloss in the colour Nude Pearl ($8.40) which is a fabulous pinky nude that works with my pigmented lips and doesn't wash me out. Great gloss, great price and wonderful longetivity.

I only started wearing concealers last year! I have always been intimidated by the idea of finding the right shade and the right consistency of concealer so that I don't look like a clown with those reverse circles. The wrong colour (usually too light) can make you look awful, worse than not wearing any concealer and the wrong consistency can crease or not blend leading to wrinkly under eye circles, aging you instantly. So since I had such high standards I used to not wear concealers at all. But I think I have found my concealer after years of searching. It's affordable and pigmented and blends easily. I have been using it everyday and love the way it looks. It's the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Deep ($6.99)

I have worn the same perfume all month long and it's called Lauren by Ralph Lauren. I adore the feminine scents for this time of the year and this lasts on me for about 5 hours (much longer than others). You can find it here at for 90 ml.

I am a huge blush lover and I have been really enjoying the cream blushes the past month. I have chosen the Vincent Longo Water Canvas Blush in Tuscan Spell ($44 for 11.5 g) which a lovely red blush that is easy to blend but long lasting. I adore the hydration that it provides. The other is a Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Stain ($7.99) which is discontinued but you can still find it on Ebay and outlet stores. This is the most beautiful blush peachy pink with a lovely shimmer that lends a wonderful glow to the cheeks.

L to R - Vincent Longo Water Canvas Blush Tuscan Spell, Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin, Maybelline Fit Me Conealer in Deep, Revlon Super Lustrous Gloss in Firecracker and Maybelline Colour Sensational Gloss in Nude Pearl.
Oh and I want to include my current favourite eye makeup remover which I have used for the last 2 months and LOVE it. I recently reviewed it here.

I have been loving a great new cleanser by Liz Earle. The Cleanse and Polish ($24.50 for 3.3 oz) is one of the first hot cloth cleansers on the market and I think it's still one of the best. If you can get hold of the Cleanse and Polish cleanser do give it a go. It's super creamy and cleans really well without the resulting dryness.

    1. I want to try the Nars concealer but it's so pricey. Have to wait till the end of November before I can get it :) I think I am going to though, so will let you know when I do.
