The Newbie - Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple

If you have read through my recent Ipsy Glam Bag unbagging for September you'll know that I received the Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple ($19 for  in my September Glam Bag. I had mixed feelings about receiving yet another tinted lip balm as I have SO SO many! I decided that I will swatch it for my blog and probably give it to my mom or a friend who might find a good use for it.

As part of my daily routine I was going through my bloglovin posts and I found that there were a couple of people who had recieved this product from Ipsy and loved it and were saying it's a matte red lipstick not really a tinted lip balm. Someone even compared it to the OCC lip tars in cream form. WHAT?!

So I decided to take the plunge and try this baby out and decide for myself whether I like it or not and of course share my thoughts with you all.

First of all lets talk about the packaging. Cailyn has this funky way of packaging their lip balms and gel liners etc. There is a little pot at with a lid that contains a brush. Very bulky but I do think that it makes sense if you are traveling and need to use this as using a brush is the best way to apply this product.

The colour that I have is a tomato red that I really like and can be worn year round I think. The product is smooth and applies easily. But the most impressive feature is that it lasts all day and really stains my lips. It's great for everyday wear if you get a more muted colour. I don't think that he colour is as matte as an OCC lip tar though and I have to pop a little bit of gloss on to for hydration as these feel drying on my lips.

So to summarise I do like this product and I am considering buying the more muted colours for everyday use, however I wish it was cheaper and easily available in stores.

  2. whoa.... that is quite pricey. But the packaging is so quirky that it seems totally irresistible. Do post a haul when you get the other shades :-D

  3. These have really cool packaging! Not sure that they're strongly coloured enough for me though
