The Newbie - Rituals shower scrubs - A wash out

Rituals Shower Scrub

Rituals is a brand that was founded in 2000 and was the first brand in the world to pioneer a combination of luxury Home and Body cosmetics. I had never tried any of their products so when I ordered some clothes from House of Fraser, I decided to add a couple of Rituals Shower Scrubs as House of Fraser deliver to the US and these were only £9.00 each for 150 ml. I ordered the Fortune Scrub Invigorating Shower Scrub and the Rice Scrub Calming Shower Cream Scrub.
I was super excited when the parcel arrived a few weeks ago and immediately tried out both the scrubs.

Rice Scrub Calming Shower Cream Scrub smells of cherry blossom and the gorgeous smell lingers for about an hour. Fortune Scrub Invigorating Shower Scrub has a lovely cedar and orange blossom smell. I also quite like the packaging, better than having to stick you fingers into a jar. That unfortunately are the only good things about these products. I was so disappointed that both of these scrubs have the same consistency, which is that of a thin gel with sand particles which are not large enough to be effective enough in my opinion. The effect is far too gentle. After using the scrub my body feels dry and in need of hydration. The other disappointing thing is that the texture is quite thin which means that you need a ton of product to wash you entire body, I feel like the 150 ml tube is going to last me about 2 weeks if used every day. That makes the £9 (or $17 at Barneys in New York) really expensive.

Trying to show you guys the consistency of the scrub

I am sorry to say that I think that Rituals just decided to use some fancy ingredients and forgot to research the basics of what makes a good body scrub. I think I prefer my St Ives Apricot Scrub (which is meant to be used for the face, but I use it for my body instead)!!

  1. What a shame about the consistency. It seems far too many scrubs fail on that count. I would say that the best scrubs I've every used are the ones that have been home made with a base oil, sugar or salt and essential oils...

    1. Home made ones are great... I am just too lazy to make them at home all the time :)

  2. I love Rituals' soaps, they are awesome. Too bad about the scrub though. I use The Body Shop and I love them :)

  3. What a shame these were so disappointing - it sucks when scrubs aren't properly scrubby!
I bet the Orange Blossom & Cedar scrub smells amazing, too.
